Alaska Early Intervention/Infant Learning Program
Every state has an Early Intervention program. In Alaska, it includes a state office located in Anchorage and a network of regional Infant Learning Programs (ILPs). These programs screen young children (birth to age three) to find those who:
- Have or are at risk for disabilities
- Have or are at risk for developmental delays
ILPs help eligible families get many services their children need. There is no charge for ILP services, which may include:
- Screening, evaluation, and plans to outline goals for the family and child
- Information about child development and specific to the child’s needs
- Home visits from someone who helps the child and family
- Physical, occupational, or speech therapy; specialized equipment; referrals
- Support for transition between infant learning programs, or from infant learning programs to preschool or kindergarten
