What might trigger a seizure?
Some people report very specific “triggers” or immediate causes of seizures. Children with epilepsy are more likely to have a seizure when they have a cold, the flu, or other common illnesses. Some common seizure triggers include the following:
- Not enough sleep
- Food allergies
- Stress
- Flashing lights (like video games or strobe lights)
- Alcohol
- Illicit drugs
- Dehydration
- Poor diet
- Inactivity
