An Online Resource for Parents
Children are one of life’s greatest gifts. As parents, we want to do all we can to nurture and provide the best possible care for our children. As a parent of a child with epilepsy, also referred to as seizure disorders, parents may face the added challenge to learn as much as they can about their child’s special needs. This website was created with this in mind. It was designed to give parents in Alaska some basic information.
There is a lot of information about epilepsy. It can be overwhelming. Learning is a long-term process. You don’t need to know everything by heart. This website is a place to find information for yourself, your child, and to share with others.
This website is not intended to provide medical advice. Any questions related to medical treatment should always be addressed to a child’s pediatrician, family doctor, health aide, neurologist, or other health professional.
Please note that we often use the term “child” even though much of the information in this website is relevant to youth and young adults as well.
